Poetry Thursday: Finding My Niche

FINDING MY NICHE

What should I write?
Who wants to read it?
Where should I post it?
Will my words excite?
Art for art's sake
Won't feed my family
Won't pay my mortgage
Won't make things right.
Still my heart soars
When pen scratches paper
And words come together
Like lovers at night.
I'll keep on searching
For ways to combine them
Finding a livelihood
And living to write.

Perfect words for the anguish an author goes through...yet, we know we MUST, for writing is our very breath!

The eternal quest... well written.

Ah yes, the quest for inspiration. I know all too well how it feels to search for words when your brain is quiet or when it's so noisy you can't hear anything worth writing down. But, as you can see, sometimes the quest itself becomes the inspiration.
Great job!

I write for the money. Placed some ads on my sites now I'm pulling in a cool $50 every month or 2.

Seriously write for fun, nothing is better than a bitter rant that thousands of people will read and dismiss.

Keep tapping those keys.

I like that. Yeah, Dani. Your brain's not so mushy. I totally understand. And thank you.

What ELSE could we do? I love the way you strung the words and thoughts together.

Thanks to everyone for your kind comments! This piece seems to have struck a chord among my fellow (and sister) poets. Sometimes I don't even know how well my words have fallen together until you guys pick out your favorite bits. Thanks again.
