Saturday Stitching #15: High on my own success
One of these days I will learn how to set a realistic goal.

Saturday Stitching #14: The One Where I Talk a Lot
I skipped recording for a couple Saturdays, so I had a lot on my mind.

Inherited Yarn Haul
More yarn that I am not sure how to use, but I'm choosing to see it as a blessing and not a curse.

Almost FO: Wonder Woman Toddler Blanket
One of these days I will finish a gift way before the event. This is not that day.

Saturday Stitching #13: One and Almost Done
Another video of me rambling about a project. That seems to be all I do these days, isn't it?

Saturday Stitching #12: Gift knitting takes over
Despite the fact that my left hand is still not back to normal, I did my best to continue working on my projects. I even added a new one!

Saturday Stitching #11: Slow Hands
I'm not stitching as quickly as I would like to, but I'll talk more about that in another post.

Saturday Stitching #10: That's why I'm not a designer
I spent more time with my hooks and needles this week than I did last week, but it doesn't look like I did much. That is what happens when three out of four of your projects used fingering weight yarn.

Saturday Stitching #9: A few days late and still a few projects short
This video is late because I recorded this twice in an attempt to fix an issue with the audio; it kept getting out of sync with the video. I don't know what I'm doing wrong. I haven't changed anything in my setup other than moving from my bedroom to my dining room. My son went through this entire video making adjustments to minimize the issue. Perhaps I accidentally changed a setting. Hopefully, I will figure it out before I record again on Friday.

Saturday Stitching #8: A Day Early and a Few Projects Short
I'm getting a little better at sticking to my needlework schedule. Now if I could just stitch a little faster. I'd like to start showing off finished objects that aren't dishcloths!

Saturday Stitching #7: What was I thinking?
In this video, I talk about how little stitching I accomplished this week and what I found in my bag of tangled mysteries. Enjoy!

Saturday Stitching #6: Cast-on Week
I'm trying the needlework rotation method again, so I started a few things this week. Let's see how many of them actually get finished!

Saturday Stitching #5: Making progress, stitch by stitch
The video is a day late due to technical issues, but I did actually record it on Saturday. I'm trying to make posting this video something that I don't give myself an excuse to skip. How can I get my life in order if I keep giving myself excuses?

Saturday Stitching #4: Just Checking In
I didn't have much to show in this video; it was more about developing a habit of weekly recording and challenging myself not to talk for longer than 15 minutes. I hope to have richer content next week!

Saturday Stitching #2: Only Dishcloths
I'm still trying to learn how to balance all the things that I want to accomplish, and unfortunately blogging here is still falling to the bottom of the list. Here's a short video showing what I've been doing with yarn.

TV, DVD, PC: What I've been watching
--Valentine is a new hour-long dramedy that airs Sunday at 8p on the CW. It is about Aphrodite and her crew struggling to bring love to mortals in the 21st century. Their methods aren't working as well as they have in the past, so Aphrodite recruits her favorite human romance writer to help them with modern methods.
The show is light, almost to the point of being inconsequential. I can almost here my sci-fi buddies laughing at me. It reminds me of something that the late Aaron Spelling would have produced. The romance-of-the-week that always ends happily is reminiscent of Spelling's Love Boat, but there is a darker sub-plot that hearkens back to Charmed, another Spelling show. I like it, but I would definitely recommend it to my friends who watch Ghost Whisperer rather than the Buffy fans. If you want to check it out, you can watch full episodes on Hulu.
--The Mad Men season finale was this week, and I am already suffering from withdrawal symptoms. Matthew Weiner really dropped some bombshells on us this season and I can't wait for the show to come back next year and show us the fallout. This show is slow-moving, but I think if you give it a chance you will be greatly rewarded.
--On the DVD side, I've been on a Criminal Minds kick. I don't consider myself a big fan of crime shows, but this show and NCIS both have very interesting characters. In the case of Criminal Minds, I watch for the one or two scenes in each episode that feature Garcia or show a part of the characters' personal lives.
--This week, I've been streaming the UK series Skins. If you think that Degrassi: The Next Generation is too gritty, don't even attempt to watch this show. It has teenagers in it, but I wouldn't be able to let M watch it. There is plenty of sex, nudity, drugs, and drinking. It's a wonder that these kids have any time to go to class! I have to admit that the characters are engaging, though. Each episode is more of a day-in-the life study, although there are a few plotlines that carry through. I keep watching to see if any of characters get their lives straightened out. If you want to check it out, try Surf the Channel.

Amy Winehouse has forgotten the lessons from her own song
Check out this video that Amy Winehouse made in 2003:
The very first line of the song is "You should be stronger than me." The rest of the lyrics are about how Amy wishes that she had a man who was going to take care of her instead of the other way around. This idea is punctuated by the scenes of Amy saddled with a boyfriend who is a drunkard.
It seems that Amy needs to take a look at her own videos. It looks like she fell for a guy who wasn't stronger than her, except in his ability to drag her down with him.

Prom Queen TV: Summer Heat
The mystery series for Verizon phones, Prom Queen TV, was intriguing but disjointed. I was left with many questions at the end of the first season. The 2-minute episodes felt too short to cover all the plot lines that were started. The new season, called Summer Heat, deals with the aftermath of the Prom Queen season finale. I don't want to tell you too much because this series lives on the surprise factor. I will say, however, that Summer Heat held my attention much better than Prom Queen.
Several changes were made in Summer Heat that I would consider improvements. The episodes are still 2 minutes long, but they don't have the ads at the beginning and end. It is amazing what an extra 15-20 seconds can add to an episode. Summer Heat also has one straightforward plot line and only 6 of the 13 original characters. There were still unanswered questions when I got to the end of the 15-episode run, but I felt more satisfied than I was at the end of Prom Queen.
All the episodes of both runs are up on the Prom Queen TV website. If you don't have a Verizon phone, I would say that watching them all in one sitting on your computer is the best way to go.
