Back to work

I went back to work this morning. This might sound crazy to some because I could have stayed home, especially since I am off again until next Tuesday. I could have made this a nice two-week vacation. Goodness knows I have never been one to rush back to work in the past if I have a good excuse. This time, though, something told me that I needed to get back to work.

First off, I needed to make sure that my time sheet was corrected so that I could get paid for the last half of December. We had to turn the sheets in early and it was assumed that workman's comp would pay for me to stay out and recover from my injury. Since that turned out not to be the case, I wanted to make sure that wasn't working the next few weeks for free. This was something that I thought would be better handled in person.

The five days that I'm being given for Christmas vacation seem less special when I've already had six days off before that. I thought going back to work even for one day might help me enjoy the vacation a little more. I don't know if I accomplished that, but I feel that I caught up with what I missed in the office while I was gone which is just as good.

Another thing I managed to do while at work was make my foot swell again. I didn't walk that much, but I did it all without my crutches because they were too awkward to use in my crowded office area. By the time I got home, my foot was burning so much that I took the walking boot off to rub my foot a little and saw that it was swollen. I guess that means I'll be going back to rest and ice over the weekend. At least I have plenty of reading material.

ouch!

you sound like me when I was pregnant. I'd walk to the bathroom and my ankles wouldn't bend anymore. :)

I expected to have trouble with swelling when I was pregnant because I was already overweight and I never stayed away from foods like ham. I saw lots of skinny girls end up with swollen noses, hands, and feet but it never happened to me. Let me twist an ankle, though, and my feet puff up like balloons!
